Midfulness groups are pretty fluid, meaning that we don’t expect a long-term commitment if you’d like to get involved. This is a group geared towards airmen who have experienced trauma though, so there are a few expectations:
Confidentiality: What is shared in the group stays in the group. Members are expected to respect privacy and not discuss others’ experiences outside the sessions.
Respectful Communication: Disrespectful behavior, rudeness, or discrimination is not tolerated.
Non-Judgmental Attitude: Groups encourage acceptance of all members as they are. Criticism, unsolicited advice, or moralizing is discouraged to maintain a supportive atmosphere.
Safety:
1. No one shall access the hives without supervision from program manager and program staff will have a cell phone at all times when working around hives
2. While participating in the beekeeping program, staff and participants will be required to wear: pants (preferably light colored), long sleeves, beekeeping gloves, beekeeping veil, closed-toe shoes, and socks at all times while working with the hives.
3. While participating in the garden, staff and participants will be required to wear closed-toe shoes and during the warmer months of April to October, sun protection. Sun protection should include a brimmed hat, sunscreen, long-sleeved shirts, and so on.
4. All participants will be educated about the best way to reduce the risk of bee stings (moving slowly, not making sudden movements, loud noises, dropping equipment, etc.) but will be made aware there is still a risk for bee stings.
